Psalm 25: 6-7

Psalm 25: 6-7
Remember, oh Lord, thy tender mercies and thy loving kindnesses; for they have been ever of old.
Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions, according to thy mercy;  remember thou me for thy goodness sake,  O Lord.

This has to be another universal desire, has it not? To be treated with mercy and kindness knowing we have made mistakes. We don't want to be reminded of our errors. They belong to the past just let them be.

There is nothing more destructive to our spirit as being reminded of our mistakes - the message that our mistakes define us. But people can rise above any past deeds and, truth be told, the "sins of my youth" is a common shared experience of the majority. We would never survive the teen years without merciful and loving parents and friends. And the last thing we want is to be reminded of the stupid things we did back then.

But we know and we remember-  so let us offer ourselves mercy and kindness for our own follies. Hopefully we learned from the experience.
